RWET Final - One True Wise Man

For my RWET Final, I wanted to try and use the twitter API and make a twitter-bot. I have always loved the random quality of bots, and have wanted to see how and what I can do manipulate tweets to make something mostly nonsensical, funny and random. I have always had a very specific target in mind when I had to find a source for my twitterbot, and it is one of the most powerful media tycoons in the world: Rupert Murdoch.

I have it on good authority that this is the only thing that Newscorp has no control over, and his tweets are, for lack of a better word, amazing. Here are a few examples:

I decided to add a few more colorful conservative commentators that are notorious for making bold statements about what they believe in, so I wrote a script that combines the most recent tweets of Murdoch, Donald Trump and Sean Hannity, then passing it through a Markov chain that is slightly randomized in the characters that will be used to post to the bot.

It took me a while to set it up, but it has finally been completed. This are some of the tweets posted by over 30 minute intervals:

I will likely be making small tweaks to this bot, but overall I am pretty happy with its results.

The code for the bot is below:
